Peter Jackson & Fran Walsh, the producers of LOTR, are producing The Hobbit. It will appear in 2011 & 2012 as two parts. The first Hobbit movie will tell Tolkien's story of The Hobbit. The second movie will connect the Hobbit book with the LOTR books, using mostly information from the appendices (presumably).
Better yet, Guillermo del Toro (my new favorite movie director) will be directing the two films! I don't know if you've seen Pan's Labarenth, a Spanish movie directed by this excellent artist--it's too gory, don't--or Hellboy 2, also his brainchild, which I suspect you and dad would love... but del Toro is brilliant. His creativity is fresh, different, satisfying. WOOHOO!!
Check if it's okay, but you might look up the hellboy 2 and pan's labarenth previews on youtube to see his style.
these hobbit movies will be AWESOME.
p.s. previous rumors that the actor who played thomus the faun would be bilbo in the hobbit have now been denied. i don't know who will play bilbo.....

OMG-oodness! that is SO exciting. naom told me broad scope,but details is great! hellboy 2 and labrynith? we got labrnith.. but kate said it was horrible, so we didn't watch it :( but anyway! that is definetly BREAKING NEWS! (nice title btw)
